Can 5th Wheel Rails Be Added to 2003 GMC Sierra 2500 With Gooseneck Hitch Still Installed
Question:
I bought a truck with a flip over gooseneck hitch but I mostly tow a fifth wheel. I got a fifth wheel ez roller hitch. My truck is an 03 gmc duramax 2500 short bed. My question is if it’s possible to install rails so I can use either hitch without having to spend the money for an adaptor

Unfortunately, the rails that hold the existing gooseneck hitch to the frame sit right where you'll need the brackets for the 5th wheel mounting rails that would sit in the truck bed. Your best bet would be to remove the existing gooseneck, use the Reese # RP30035 Universal 5th Wheel Hitch mounting kit along with an inexpensive gooseneck plate that pins to the rails like # 16055. This would be your least expensive option.
Depending on which gooseneck hitch you have, there might be some other options. If your gooseneck hitch is a B&W Turnover ball, you could use the Curt # 16310 or if you have the Curt EZr Double Lock, use the
# C16220 adapter. These adapters aren't compatible with rotating pin boxes like the Reese Revolution/Sidewinder or the Lippert Turning Point.
This assumes that your Husky 5th wheel hitch with the EZ roller uses industry standard bed rails, as opposed to an under bed rail system.
