Recommended Roof Racks for a 2017 Chevrolet Traverse

Question:

I have flush rails, but I am confused about what I need to get then. So I would need the Crossbars themselves, RRVA137B-2 but your note said: "To attach these crossbars to your roof with flush rails, you will need the 2500 Series Legs, part # RRRLKVA, and the Custom DK Fit Kit for 4 Rhino-Rack 2500 Series Roof Rack Legs, part # DK297." Why would I need to get two sets of legs? Also, can you recommend some options for enclosed cargo boxes that would work with those rails?

I am not sure what you mean by channels. The 2017 Chevrolet Traverse has two options of roofs: one with flush rails and the other with a naked roof.

If you have the flush rails, I recommend the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars, part # RRVA137B-2. These are aero-style crossbars, so they are compatible with most accessories while cutting down on wind drag and noise. They're 54" long and have a weight capacity of 165 pounds. I've linked to a video review of these for you to look at.

To attach these crossbars to your roof with flush rails, you will need the 2500 Series Legs, part # RRRLKVA, and the Custom DK Fit Kit for 4 Rhino-Rack 2500 Series Roof Rack Legs, part # DK297.

If you have a naked roof, then your only option is to use the SeaSucker Monkey Bars Roof Rack, part # 298-SX6000B. These use vacuum cups to mount round bars to the naked roof. I've linked to a video review of these as well.

If you'd like to send those photos, I can assess whether or not the above options truly fit your roof or if something else will be needed.

When adding a roof rack, not only do you need crossbars, but you need the components to attach those bars to what you have on your roof. Since you have flush rails, the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars, part # RRVA137B-2, are what I recommended. To attach them, you need the legs, which are part # RRRLKVA. These are what attach to the crossbars. However, there is an additional component that most vehicles need, and that is the fit kit. Legs generally do not attach to flush rails without this fit kit (which is different for every vehicle). For this setup, that fit kit is part # DK297. As for your cargo box, I recommend the Thule Motion XT Rooftop Cargo Box, part # TH629706. It is 77" long x 36" wide x 17" tall and has 16 cubic feet of carrying capacity. It can hold up to 165 pounds (check your owner's manual to ensure your roof's capacity can handle the bars, box, and what's in the box), and it attaches to the Vortex bars by the PowerClick clamps. I've linked to a video review of this box along with the other videos below.
