Weight Distribution And Extended Shank To Tow A Camper With Tailgate Down On A 2015 Ford F-150
Question:
Good morning, i am trying to see what items in the Torklift line up would fit a 2015 F150. i am looking for a whole set up as to add an extension to tow with my tailgate down load motorcycles while trailering RV. I am looking for the extension truss, with a matching trailor system and possible weight distribution if it is needed. My trailor is 4500, two bikes are roughly 1500 lbs. i am looking to upgrade, add the extension without drastically changing my capabilities. truck is a 3.5L 6 cylinder 4x4, crew cab short bed.

In order to add a super truss extension to your 2015 F-150 it would require a super truss hitch which are not compatible with an F-150. If you were to add just a single hitch extension then the tongue weight of the hitch would be reduced by half. The only way to accomplish your task is to add a weight distribution hitch with an extended shank.
I recommend the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution w/ 4-Point Sway Control Item # EQ37121ET and the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank Item # EQ90-02-4500. A standard tail gate is approximately 23". With the tail gate down. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outer edge of a tailgate is approximately 29". With a standard ball mount in the receiver, from the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball is 8-1/2". If you coupled a trailer on a standard ball mount you would have 14.5" of trailer tongue under your tailgate.
Adding the EQ90-02-4500, which measures 15' from the hitch pin hole to the outer edge of the shank, then the weight distribution head which provides roughly an additional 2" to the center of the ball. You now have approximately 17" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball. If a tailgate down measures approximately 23" this means you will only have approximately 7" of trailer tongue under the tailgate which should provide enough clearance to tow a camper with the tailgate down while provide sway control and weight distribution.
