What to Do if the Tekonsha Primus IQ Displays Brakes on Startup when Connected to an OEM Ram Harness
Question:
Hi, I have a 2014 Ram 1500. I recently purchased a Prumis IQ brake controller. It plugs right into the pre made harness that runs to the back of my trucks 7 pin connector. When I turn the truck on the display on the Prumis IQ acts like my brakes are being pressed and sometimes this also happens when I let off the gas. This happens if the trailer is connected or not. When trailer is not connected when I turn off my truck it displays N.C. like is should. When connected I can hear the electric brakes engage. When I put it into gear the voltage s like it should. Otherwise everything else appears to work properly. Any ideas of what the issue could be or is there one?

I spoke with Tekonsha about this. It would seem that the problem stems from plugging into the OEM harness.
In order for the Primus IQ, part # TK90160, to activate properly with a 2013 or newer Ram 1500, then the corresponding harness needs to be used. That harness is part # 3023-P. This will be the in-between of the controller and the OEM harness.
I've linked to video reviews of these parts below.
