Is a Friction Sway Control a Good Choice for 2007 Honda Element Towing Camper

Question:

Recently I ordered 118465 wiring harness, 75659 Draw Tite hitch, Tekonsha Primus TK90160, Universal Installation ETBC7. I am told the trailer will weigh 1375-1425. I will have to take all gear in the Element and with seats out will have approx. 755 pounds. There are two people so 455 pounds for gear minus hitch weight. don’t have hitch yet The trailer tongue will have 27 pound battery and one propane tank. With this I won’t have weight to shift in trailer so my question is whether a sway bar would or would not help. The Element is a manual. Thanks

A friction control sway bar like the part # 83660 wouldn't hurt your towing setup on your 2007 Honda Element, but if you were asking about a weight distribution system the hitch you have (and all hitches that fit your vehicle) are not rated for weight distribution.

Friction sway control units do a great job fighting sway that comes from high winds and passing semis but wouldn't stop persistent sway.
