How does this part work? There is no directions on this?

Basically you just push the Replacement Nut Retainer and Nut for Yakima HoldUp Bike Carrier # Y90254 into the shank of the bike rack and the pins will line up with the indentations in the shank so that the nut is held at the right location when threading in the hitch pin.
