Comparing Air Bags and Roadmaster Active Suspension for a 2010 Toyota Tundra
Question:
Sirs, Maams Im torn between 2 products. I have a 2010 Tundra TRD Rock Warrior and tow a midsized travel trailer. I have the TRD sway bar, Cooper E LT tires and use an EQ4 WDH. I do get close to max payload but am shy by thousands of towing max of 10300 lbs. Truck sits level, tows nicely, but we are looking to upsize or trailer size. I will drive much more relaxed with more beef in opposing gravity. Ive decided on either, the RAS or the Firestone Airbags and Daystar cups. I have no issue installing either nor does the more time to adjust airbags bother me, Im retired Im in no hurry for anything. Question is whats the etrailer preferred suggestion? Im concerned about airbags canceling out some of the sway control of the EQ4 hitch, or the RAS, and if RAS, which one, heaviest duty one or the lower weight application? Ride effect either way doesnt bother me, its a truck. Thanks, you guys are great!!

I recommend the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs part # F2445 over the Roadmaster Active Suspension (RAS) for a 2010 Toyota Tundra. The reason for this has to due with adjustability. The RAS is adjustable as well but this is not nearly as easy as the Firestone Airbags and will take much more time. The air bags allow you to adjust the psi to your exact load and get the perfect balance of support/comfort. The air can then be let out when not towing for a factory ride. The Roadmaster Active Suspension will raise the rear of the truck unloaded and the pre-set makes the ride worse even if this is not as big of an issue to you, it's still a negative
In regards to use with a weight distribution system, there will be no problem with this and many others do this. Simply adjust the psi in the air bags before you set spring bar tension and you'll be good to go.
