When taking a longer road trip, or even a trip to the local park or trail, having easy and quick access to the hatch and cargo area is always something to keep in mind. A trunk mounted bike rack will not offer that convenience, but a hitch and hitch mounted bike rack can!
I suggest the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Part # C13119 for your 2016 Honda CR-V. Many automobile and repair shops have services for installing hitches if you are not familiar with installing it yourself. It has a nice fit and finish and allows for plenty of clearance for hitch mounted accessories on the CR-V.
If you have alloy, step-through, or mountain bikes, maybe even a children's bike, I suggest the Curt 2 Bike Platform Rack Part # C18085. It can accommodate many different bike shapes and sizes, and offers the handy tilt away feature with the bikes loaded. This will allow easy access to the hatch or cargo areas.
If a trunk mounted bike rack is more of your style, the Saris Bones 2 Bike Carrier Part # SA805BL is a great option, confirmed fit for your vehicle, and had excellent customer reviews!
I have added to this page a review and installation of the hitch, as well as a review showing the features for the Curt and Saris bike racks.
