Ease Of Installation And Total Weight Of Thule Apex XT 2 Bike Rack

To install the rack into your hitch you will place the black hook into the pin hole of your hitch, tighten the anti-rattle knob until the rack is secure, and lock the knob with the provided key. To remove it you will unlock the lock on the anti-rattle knob, turn the knob counter-clock wise until the black hook in the pin hole can be removed, and then slide the rack out of the hitch. The Thule # TH9024XT weighs in at 37.5lbs, and will add 29-1/2" to the back of your vehicle with the arms up, and 16" with the arms folded down. If your main concern is the weight of the bike rack, I do think you will be much happier with either the Thule Helium Pro 2 Bike Rack # TH9042PRO. The Thule # TH9042PRO weighs in at 19lbs, can support two bikes weighing up to 37.5lbs each, and will add 33" to the back of your Subaru with the arms up, or 22" with the arms down.
