To use the Curt Venturer Brake Controller, part # C74VV, with your 2001 Ford F-150, you will need the Custom Wiring Adapter for you vehicle, which is part # C51322. I've linked to a video installation of these two for you to reference.
Keep in mind that in order to use a brake controller, you need a 7-way on your vehicle. If you don't have one, then use the etrailer Universal Installation Kit, part # ETBC7. This will hook up to your factory 4-way. I've linked to a video installation of this as well.
If you don't have a 4-way, then you can use the Curt T-Connector for you vehicle, part # C56031.
