Fit of Draw-Tite Class II Receiver # 36280 on 2002 Saab 9-3 5 Door Hatchback
Question:
Just to clarify my muddy mind...will this subject Hitch fit my 2002 Saab 9-3 5-Door Hatchback? If yes, will this hitch installation require the cutting of any body parts on the subject vehicle as it came from the manufacturer? Or, if this Hitch will NOT fit, then what hitch to your knowledge, will? Please advise, and thanks.

The Draw-Tite Class II hitch you referenced, part # 36280 will fit your 2002 Saab 9-3 5-door hatchback unless it is a Viggen sub-model and unless it has the rear air dam. You should not need to trim anything, but the installation instructions specify that a 1/2 inch diameter hole needs to be drilled in the rear of the passenger-side frame member.
If you look at the provided diagram, you can see a cross section drawing showing how the receiver opening would sit in regard to the frame members and the rear bumper. If the rear bumper cover of your Saab matches this diagram, the hitch will fit.
The top of the receiver tube will sit 2 inches below the bottom of the frame members. Measuring down two inches from the bottom of your frame member will definitively tell you if the hitch will clear the bottom of the bumper.
