Can 2020 Ram 2500 with Ram Box Tow Fifth Wheel Trailer

Question:

Will this 5th wheel work in a 2020 RAM 2500 6.5 bed equipped with a RAMBOX? No OEM 5th wheel/gooseneck set up. Thanks

There is a way to tow a fifth wheel trailer with a Ram truck like your 2020 model that has the Ram Box but it requires the use of a fixed hitch and a pivoting pin box like a Sidewinder. The Sidewinders move the pivot point up higher which allows the vehicle and trailer to make turns without bed rail interference from the narrower Ram Boxes.

So you'd want a custom install fifth wheel rail kit part # RP50054-58 with a fixed hitch like the Reese part # RP30047 and you'd be good as long as you had a Sidewinder installed on the trailer as well.

Sidewinders are pin box specific so you will first need to know what pin box you have now in order to pick out the correct one.

There should be a sticker or a stamping on the OEM pin box of the trailer that will list the pin box number that is on the trailer.

Once you figure out which pin box you have you can check the FAQ I attached that has a chart that shows the correct Sidewinder to get based on which pin box you have.
