Malfunctioning Prodigy Brake Controller Installed on 2004 Dodge Ram 3500
Question:
The nc light stays on when truck is off. Key on or off. If I step on the pedal the small lights go on but nc comes back once I take my foot off the brake. No trailer connected and nothing plugged in the trailer socket. I serviced the batteries then this started to happen. Batteries were hooked up proper. no shorts etc....

It sounds like you might have the original Prodigy (red LED display versus the blue display of the P2.)
If this is the case, the quick on-off cycling of the batteries might have confused the processor in the controller. My contact at Tekonsha tells me that if you unplug the controller from the rear and plug it right back in, the controller should reset and then work properly. The NC will show on the display, and then revert to the two dots after 15-20 seconds.
If your brake controller is the Prodigy P2 with the blue display, please get back with me and I will look into some other possible causes.
