Curt Venturer Not Powering Trailer Brakes On 2019 Ram 1500 Classic

Question:

I moved the controller from my 09 1500 to my new 2019 1500 classic. Bought the correct harness, plugged it in, green light solid when applying brakes all good so far. Hooked up my trailer and nothing. Solid green on the controller when braking, nothing going to trailer. All I see it the solid green light. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

It sounds like there is an issue with the connection between your 2019 Ram 1500 Classing and your trailer causing the Curt Venturer # C74VV to not recognize a trailer is attached.

This is pretty easy to test and will require a circuit tester like # PTW2993. You will need to stick the probe of the circuit tester into the blue wire going into the back of your Curt Venturer # C74VV and see if you are getting the green bars to show on the controller when applying the override button.

If you are getting the green bars with the circuit tester on the blue wire, you will need to check the connector on your vehicle and on your trailer for corrosion that will need to be cleaned out to allow a solid connection.

If you are still not getting the green bars on the controller I would verify that you have the harness is securely installed into the back of the controller and into connector on your vehicle. If all of the connections are secured but you are still not getting power to the trailer brakes you will need to replace the controller.
