Can Sliding 5h Wheel Hitch Removed From Previous Vehicle Be Installed in 2020 Ford F-250
Question:
I have a Reese 16k tubular sliding hitch that I used in a Toyota Tundra shortbed. I traded in the truck for a 2020 f250 with a longbed. I want to use the same hitch, even though I don’t need the slide feature anymore. What parts would I need to adapt it to the new truck? I was unable to remove the rear mounting brackets from the Tundra. Are those brackets vehicle specific?

The mounting rails that sit in the truck bed aren't vehicle specific, but the brackets that bolt up the truck frame that secure the mounting rails are.
Let's begin with your 5th wheel hitch. It's perfectly acceptable to use the Reese 16K sliding fifth wheel hitch you already have in your new truck. You'll just need to remember to leave the hitch slid in the forward towing position at all times. Operating with the hitch slid rearward would apply too much weight to the rear of the back truck axle, which could negatively affect steering, braking and handling. As long as you remember to leave the hitch in the forward position, everything will work just fine.
To install the hitch in your 2020 Ford F250, you'll need a new bracket/rail system. I'd recommend using part # BWRVK2402 from B&W. It isn't necessary to match the brand of install bracket/rails to that of the hitch, as long as the kit you use provides industry standard bed rails, which the Curt kit recommended does. The Curt kit is more reasonably priced than the Reese kit, there's no reason you cannot go with the less expensive option.
If you'd like to install a 7-way trailer connector on the inside wall of the truck bed, you can do so using part # 50-97-410-010.
