Can 2.5 Watt Solar Battery Charger Be Connected With Engine Running?

Hello, Can this charger remain hook up while the engine is running or should it be disconnected every time the car is running? Thank you.

The 2.5-Watt Solar Battery Charger # PTW2997 cannot remain connected while the engine is running. The installation instructions from the manufacturer (which are attached) state "CAUTION: Disconnect the solar battery charger from automotive 12 V receptacle or battery terminal before starting engine. Surges of electricity from the engine may damage the solar panel."
This small solar charger will help charge your battery but it is not rated to also receive the power coming in the other direction when an alternator from the engine is connected.
