How to Determine the Correct Roof Vent Cover for a 1993 Car-Mate Enclosed Trailer

Question:

I need to replace the vent covers on my 1993 Car-Mate enclosed trailer. I think the 61634 is the right covers I need. I see the spec says 14 X 14 but I measure my current dome lid from outside to outside and it is closer to 14.25inch ? Can you provide me a spec diagram or confirm the one im looking at is correct? This lid has the correct style fit for my slide mechanism to raise and lower it. I am positive the BV0554-01 is not what i have. Thanks

There are a few things to look at when looking for the correct replacement vent cover for your 1993 Car-Mate trailer. The first item that will help is knowing the manufacturer of the vent on the trailer, such as Elixir, Jensen, etc.

The next thing that you will want to consider is the size of the vent itself. The Ventmate Vent Cover, # 63116, that you referenced is designed to fit plastic vent frames that are 14 inches by 14 inches. The actual outside to outside dimensions of this vent cover are approximately 14-1/2 inches by 14-1/2 inches.

After that, look at the hinge style and sliding mechanism. If there is a rolled metal hinge attached to the vent cover like on the # 63116 vent cover, that you referred to then that vent will probably work for your trailer.

Basically, the easiest way to select the correct replacement cover is to remove the existing cover and match the hinge and lift bracket to the photos on our site along with the dimensions. A link to all of the replacement vent covers is provided to match up with your cover.
