I have an option but there is not a fifth wheel rail kit made for your 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 that will use factory holes in the frame. There is one option that allows for you to not have to drill into your frame and allows you to have a gooseneck or fifth wheel hitch.
The Custom Underbed Installation Kit for B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # BWGNRK1394-5W will install with no drilling into your vehicle's frame and allow you to use the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider - Dual Jaw - 20,000 lbs # BWRVK3400-5W which is a great slider 5th wheel hitch that helps give you extra clearance between your trailer and the cab of your truck when making wide turns. You will not be able to use a trailer with a rotating pin box with the B&W Companion # BWRVK3400-5W. I included a video of the B&W Underbed Installation Kit # BWGNRK1394-5W being installed on a 2002 Dodge Ram for you to take a look at.
An option that does include drilling is the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches - 10 Bolt # RP30035 which offers Industry Standard Rails (ISR) to be able to mount a variety of different fifth wheel hitches. I included a video of the Reese Universal Base Rails # RP30035 being installed on a 2002 Dodge Ram for you to take a look at.
If you need a fifth wheel hitch I recommend the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Slide Bar Jaw - 16,000 lbs
Item # C16115 with Sidewinder Wedge # C16991.
If you prefer a sliding fifth wheel hitch the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R16 Slider - Dual Jaw - 16,000 lbs # C16521 is a great option for your short bed truck if your trailer does not have a rotating pin box.
