Yakima MegaWarrior Cargo Basket Sliding Side to Side on a 2018 Subaru Outback Wagons Factory Bars
Question:
I purchased my MegaWarrior basket from you about a year ago and everything has been great. However, I just did an overland trip for two weeks in Northern Arizona and my clamps became loose from all of the vibrations while off-road. Every bolt and nut is as tight as I can get them but I can now move the rack from side to side fairly easy. I did carry my full-size tire the entire trip. And I am using the factory issued cross bars. Should I use foam tape to wrap the bars to make the clamps tighter ? What suggestions do you have ?

I spoke with Yakima about this and what could have happened is the pads on the brackets of your Yakima MegaWarrior Cargo Basket became worn and now have lost grip. You Probably need to replace the clamps to get a better grip, but unfortunately, they are no longer available.
I've linked to a video review of this clamp for you to look at so you can see what you need. We do have several reports from customers of the Rola Bracket, part # 59506, working very well to secure Yakima baskets to roof racks but I cannot 100% confirm this. We have not tested that here, but you may be able to use these as additional clamps for added grip. It could be that your factory bars are very thin and the Yakima clamps aren't able to close enough to get a good grip. The Rola brackets in conjunction might provide that. I've linked to a video review of these as well.
As for using the tape, it could potentially work. However, we nor Yakima have tested this, so I can't safely recommend it.
