Parts Needed for Flat Towing a 2020 Buick Envision
Question:
I am looking into towing my new 2020 Buick Envision behind my RV. Your website is extremely helpful for info, but I am sure I will need to buy and install some specific items. I have a Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain tow bar setup from previous owner of the RV. I have 2 questions: 1.Will this tow bar work with me only having to get the parts particular to the Buick Envision? 2. Do I tow with the car in neutral and how is that set up? Do I need an additional transmission cooler on the car? Thanks,

In order to use the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain # RM-522, you'll just need base plates that are compatible with both the tow bar and your vehicle; it looks like you were looking at the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # RM-523196-5, which are compatible with the Falcon All-Terrain and fit on your 2020 Buick Envision. When it comes to the flat towing procedures for your vehicle, those will be outlined in the owner's manual and each vehicle has a different procedure; it does look like there will be some fuses pulled, or a fuse bypass installed. You also do not require an additional transmission cooler.
In addition to base plates and a tow bar, you'll also need safety cables (not vehicle specific), tow bar wiring, supplemental braking and potentially a high/low adapter to allow you to tow level.
For tow bar wiring I recommend using the Roadmaster 7-wire to 6 wire Diode Kit # RM-15267, which will allow you to protect the towed vehicle from electrical feedback from the RV that might damage your Buick Envision. Additionally, if you don't want to pull fuses each time you need to prep the vehicle for flat towing you can use the Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass Switch for Towed Vehicle - (2) 20-Amp ATM Mini-Fuses # RM76512 to make this process as easy as flipping a switch.
For supplemental braking I recommend using the Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System - Proportional # BLU37TR, which will provide you with brake pressure that is proportional with the amount of brake applied in the RV. This is especially helpful in preserving the brakes on your towed vehicle, and it's easy to set up and take down for each use. This system does require an auxiliary 12v power supply that bypasses the vehicle battery in order to be used, so you'll also need the Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass Switch for Towed Vehicle - (2) 20-Amp ATM Mini-Fuses # RM76512. This will allow you to disable the fuses with a flip of a switch and make your setup easier each time you're looking to get out on the road.
Finally you may need a high/low adapter for the tow bar. I've linked a brief article that explains how to measure correctly to determine which one you might need, as well as a link to our entire selection for you to check out and choose the appropriate one.
I've also linked some installation and review videos of these parts, that you may want to check out at as well.
