1998 Jayco Eagle STUD Replacement Surge Couple Actuator
Question:
Hi, I have an Atwood 85736 master cylinder that I know is no longer made. I need to replace the master cylinder and understand that I have to replace the entire actuator/receiver. How do I go about determining the appropriate replacement receiver for my trailer? The current receiver is welded to the trailer. Thank you

To choose a replacement actuator like the Demco Hydraulic Trailer Brake Actuator part # DM72VR there are just a few things to match up. First is weight capacity this one offers a 7,000 lb. gross trailer weight rating, second is ball size this has a 2" ball and is whether you need it for drum or disc brakes this is for drums which you have.
To remove your old coupler you will need to grind the welds down and pry it off. Clean up the tongue and place the new coupler on and mark the mounting holes. These will be 1/2" and usually about 4" long. You can find these at the hardware store use at least grade 5 and Nylock nuts. You can cut off the excess bolt if desired.
