Can I Put 60 Crossbars and 2 Thule Hullavators on My 2020 Toyota 4Runner

Question:

4Runner 2020, 2 hullavators, requires, evo wingbar 60”. Why is it mentioned not practical? Yes, it will stick out 8-9 inches from the footpack. Why is that a problem? The new bars weight limit is 220 lb so it could hold both hullavators and 60 lb kayaks. Please let me know why not to do this. Thanks

Typically extending more than 4"-8" outside of your mounting towers will put the crossbars past the side view mirrors, which extends the width of the vehicle and could create unsafe conditions; this is the main reason that this is not recommended. However, it also could potentially put too much weight outside of the mounting towers and put too much weight on the unsupported bars-this is a little less likely, but we still don't generally recommend it. The Hullavator also cannot be used with more than 8" outside of the towers for this specific reason, so that should be taken into consideration when deciding on bar length. Your best bet is to make sure that 60" wouldn't stick out further than your side view mirrors, and also that it's not putting more than 8" outside of the side rails.

With that said, the amount of space that the Thule Hullavator # TH898 takes up on your crossbars is only 28.5", so you could make this work on 60" Thule Wingbar Evo # TH711520, but it might be a tight fit and with boats that are wider than that you'll have quite a bit more hanging over the ends of the crossbars. To mount these bars on your 2020 Toyota 4Runner you'll want to use the Evo Raised Rail Feet # TH710401, which will connect to the Wingbar Evo to give you a complete roof rack kit.

Generally speaking the best way to carry 2 large kayaks on your 4Runner is going to be using something like the Malone FoldAway-5 Kayak, SUP, and Canoe Carrier with Tie Downs - J-Style - Folding - Side Loading # MAL38FR, which will allow you to comfortably carry both kayaks without worry. This carrier does come with tie down straps included, so it gives you all that you'd need to secure the boats as well.

I've linked a review video of this roof rack kit for you to have a look at.
