Towed Vehicle Tail Lights Aren't Working with RV Connected Using 6-Way Connector
Question:
I installed a new 6 pin plug on my tow vehicle. Both turn lights and brake lights on the car are working fine, but I get no tail lights when the RV lights are on. I wired it the same as it was. Any suggestions?

In order to help troubleshoot your wiring issues, first check the connector on your RV with a circuit tester such as # PTW2979 to make sure the running lights circuit works there. If so, then check the ground wire connection on the new 6-way connector you installed. Clean the area near your ground connection to make sure you have sufficient ground and double-check the wiring on the 6-way connector you just installed. The wires should be connected as follows (see the attached diagram as well):
- Brown: Tail/running lights
- White: Ground wire
- Yellow: Left turn/brake light
- Green: Right turn/brake light
- Blue: Brake controller output
- Red or Black: Battery hot lead
