Compatibility of Factory Roof Rails with Thule Aftermarket Crossbars on 2018 Toyota RAV4

Question:

Hi etrailer! I currently have factory installed raised roof rails on a 2018 RAV4. I am looking to purchase Thule cross bars to put a roof top tent up there. The rails have a sticker that says “Maximum Load Capacity = 100lbs”, but the Thule cross bars have a max load capacity of 165lbs. If I install the Thule cross bars, can I carry up to 165lbs or am I still limited to 100lbs? Thank you!

The Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars - Aluminum - Black - 47" Long - Qty 2 # TH711220 and Evo Raised Rail Feet # TH710401. The capacity rating of the bars does not increase the capacity of your vehicle roof. Your roof rack will be limited to 100 lbs total capacity.

Unfortunately the rooftop tent won't be an option on your vehicle because the 100 lb limit of your vehicle is too low for a rooftop tent.
