Has the controller ever worked properly, and the malfunction came up recently, or has it never worked?
I would recommend you begin by reviewing the wiring connections, especially the red wire. The red controller wire should be connected to the cold side of the brake stoplight switch. The circuit you tap the red wire into should ONLY show voltage when the brake pedal is pressed, not when the headlights or the turn signals are activated. My suspicion is that this wire is tapped into the wrong circuit. We recommend using a circuit tester to verify the correct circuit.
Since the stoplight switch itself is difficult to access in that vehicle, you might be able to access the signal at the fuse/relay panel under the dash. If you see a terminal labeled NAT, you can use your tester on the male spade terminal at that location to see if it shows voltage only when the brake pedal is applied. If so, install a female spade connector on the end of that red wire and plug it in at that location.
If your controller IS wired correctly, please get back with me and we will explore some other options.
