Replacement Bolt for the Softride Bike Extender Bar with the Softride Bike Rack

Question:

I recently ordered the extender for a Softride bike rack and need a hitch pin to connect the rack. As you might be aware, the bar has holes on only one side. Would # SHP2082 work with this part? If not, what do you recommend?

The Softride Bike Rack Extender Bar # SR26033 is meant to replace the existing hitch bar on your Softride Bike Rack like the Softride Hang 2 # SR27041. I attached a picture with the pieces side-by-side so you can see how it replaces and "extends" the hitch bar.

Once you've uninstalled the old hitch bar and replaced it with your extender, you can use the anti-rattle bolt that came with your bike rack to attach the rack to your hitch receiver. You are correct in that the bar only has holes on one side because it uses a special rectangular nut inside the hitch bar to lock it in place. If you lost or do not have your original anti-rattle bolt from your bike rack, you can get a replacement bolt for 1-1/4" hitch receivers # SR19696. I attached a picture below of how that will work with your extender bar.

If you have a 2" hitch receiver and don't have your original anti-rattle bolt, unfortunately, Soft Ride discontinued the part and we don't have any other single side bolts. You'd need to drill out the other side of your extender, THEN you can use the Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Lock # 63232 on your rack. I attached its video review where it shows how it threads through one side and locks down on the other.
