The The etrailer # e98874 Folding Carrier, when in the upright folded position, measures 9 1/2" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of carrier. The Draw-Tite Folding Carrier # 6502 provides 7-1/2 inches of clearance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the nearest edge of the carrier.
Based on the width of your spare (stock size vs. wider tire) you can measure and determine if this provides enough clearance. First, measure from the center of the hitch pin hole on your trailer hitch to the most-rearward edge of your spare tire. This will reveal the available clearance for a folding cargo carrier.
As an option, and based on your load carrying requirements, the Surco Spare-Tire-Mounted Cargo Basket for Jeep Wrangler, part # SPSJ4319, may be a suitable alternative. This item attaches to your vehicle spare tire mount (those with a standard bolt pattern) and allows plenty of clearance between the carrier basket and the spare tire. It also keeps your tow hitch free for towing needs. Unlike the other baskets, this Spare Tire Mounted basket does not fold up to a storage position. Please note that it also has a lower load capacity of 100 pounds.
