Towing Capacity and Parts Needed for 2013 Kia Sorento SX
Question:
I would like to figure out what I can tow with my 2013 Kia Sorento SX AWD. I am getting very confused with “gvw, gvwr, etc.” I am looking to tow a 1999 Keystone Bobcat camper. I was told by the seller it is 20 ft at 3000 lbs. I’m not sure how high that number goes up with cargo, fluid weight, etc. I am looking for any help on this subject. Thank you

I took a look at an online owner's manual for a 2013 Kia Sorento SX, and it did have the towing capacities, as there were just two, depending on the engine. For a '13 Sorento with a 2.4L engine the towing capacity is 1,650 lbs; if you have the 3.5L engine, the capacity is 1,650 lbs OR 3,500 lbs if you have the 3.5L engine, Trailer Package, and your trailer has brakes.
As for your load limit, that will be on a placard somewhere, likely on the door jamb, that has the total weight limit of all your cargo, including passengers. To tow a trailer you will need a hitch and trailer wiring, and the parts all require your Sorento have the V6 engine.
