1-3/4 Inch Slipper Spring That is 30 Inches Long and Over 2,500 lb Capacity
Question:
I have an old trailer I am cleaning up and need new springs. The trailer has slipper springs on it that are 1-3/4 wide and look to be 5 leaf. Using a tape measure, from the front bolt on the leaf spring bracket to the back bracket bolt is exactly 30. The spring looks to be 33 long from tip to tip using the straight b dimension. The springs on the trailer are 1-3/4 wide but the front bracket is roughly 2 -1/2 wide on the inside measurement, and the back bracket is 2 inches wide on the inside. I assume I could get away with a 2 spring if a 1 -3/4 is not available. I would like to find a set of springs that will give me around 2500 lbs or better total load capacity on the trailer. Axle dimension is 2 3/8 I believe.

We have a couple of slipper springs that may work for you, as they are 1-3/4 inches wide, measure a total of 30 inches, and have the capacity you need. Springs do elongate over time, but you may have to have your brackets re-positioned if the 30 inch length isn't enough (this is the longest available for 1-3/4 inch or 2 inch springs). You will want to get a spring that is as close to your axle capacity as possible without going under it's capacity.
