Is 5,000 lb Bulldog Topwind Jack Stronger or Easier to Use than Bulldog Sidewind Jack

Question:

I noted on the 5000 lb jack one model has a top crank what is on my redo trailer I am doing. The other model has a side crank. Is one model stronger , crank easier etc. than you.

The sidewind and top wind 5,000 lb Bulldog pipe-mounted trailer jacks you asked about have the steel construction with a zinc-plated inner tube and 5,000 lb capacity, so they are equal in strength. We also have a similar version by Pro Series.

They also have the same ease in regard to cranking, though this can be based on personal preference. Some people would rather crank vertically (sidewind) as opposed to horizontally (topwind) and clearance is also another consideration if there's a potential impediment, it really just depends on the trailer. Both options will work well it really just depends on how you'd prefer to crank, if there is anything in the way that would hamper that cranking action, and the lift you need.

Your options are either a 10-inch or 15-inch lift for a sidewind, or 10-inch for a top wind.
