Installation of Redarc Tow-Pro Brake Controller On 2017 Toyota Highlander XLE
Question:
Hello, Ive decided to go with the Redarc Tow-Pro, but want to make sure I know which 7-way harness I need. I already have a Curt 56217 ready to install, if needed.... want to make sure I have all the wiring components needed. I read that the Tow-Pro comes with a harness for the controller, but some wiring such as the Tekonsha 22119 needs to be adapted to fit. Or is there a better option for my car? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Expert Reply:
Redarc Tow-Pro Elite # RED44FR or the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR are both good options for your 2017 Toyota Highlander.
Since you already have the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56217 then you just need the # ETBC7 kit. You will not need any further adapters or harnesses. If you have a hybrid model, you will want to disconnect your battery prior to splicing into your brake switch wiring under the dash due to some safety sensors Toyota has added. If you have the non-hybrid model disconnecting the battery is not required.
