Tow Bar Lighting for Vehicle on Tow Dolly Plus Easily Transferable Brake Controller
Question:
Will this part work for this application? I am going to pull a tow dolly with a 2009 sprinter 3500. Tow dolly has electric brakes. I will be towing a 2008 Sebring with the tow dolly. The Sebring has a hitch and wired with a 4 pole pigtail. Can i plug into that 4 pole and have the Sebring tail lights work with the dolly lights? My objective is to have the Sebring tail lights work with the dolly lights, with one plug in, maybe there is a better way. My second question question is a recommendation for a brake controller. I will use this brake controller on the 2009 sprinter and a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. So I need something I can easily switch between vehicles. I will use this dolly for towing 2-3 times a year. I am looking at the proportional type and see a wide range in pricing. Looking for something economical but not at the trade off of safety. Thanks in advance For your help.

Since trailer lighting can't work in reverse what you'd need is tow bar wiring/lighting so that you can operate the taillights of your 2008 Chrysler Sebring in conjunction with your tow dolly wiring. For that you can use the diode kit part # RM-154 which will wire into your vehicle taillight wiring and give you what you are looking for in that regard.
For a brake controller that can switch between your two vehicles easily the best option is the Curt Echo # C51180 which basically just plugs into an active 7-way and once synced to a smart phone is ready to tow.
