Parts Needed With Tow Bar for Towing a Vehicle
Question:
do i need to add a braking system with this type towing bar?

Expert Reply:
With any tow bar system, including the Blue Ox Ascent Tow Bar - Motorhome Mount - 2-1/2" Hitch - 7,500 lbs # BX4375, you will still need a few other components including a supplemental braking system, base plates, tow bar wiring, safety cables, and often a high-low adapter. I recommend the Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System - Proportional # BLU37TR because it is compatible with most vehicles.
I have attached a video to assist. I have also linked an article to help overview the components needed to tow a vehicle. If you'd like recommendations for a complete system I'd be happy to assist but I need the year/make/model of the vehicle being towed.
