Torque of Bolts for Curt A16 5th Wheel Hitch Head

Question:

Really like this hitch but am having an issue with the two bolts one on each side just below the skid plate. They have a lock washer on them but ours keep coming loose. Every time I tow I have to check to make sure they are tight. Is there a certain torque these need to be at? It seems that if I were to tighten them too much the head would not pivot like its supposed to. I dont have a picture but when I looked at the ad for this hitch, the first picture you have shows the head and the two bolts Im referring to. Thank You Much.

Thank you for your purchase of the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C16120 from etrailer, and the two bolts on the side of the head unit # C16520 should not be coming loose.

According to Curt, you should make sure those two bolts are torqued to 175 foot lbs before every trip, as well as every 1,000 miles. This is shown in the "Maintenance" section of the linked installation manual.
