What Type of Bike Racks Can Install in Draw Tite # 24816 for 2005 Mazda 3
Question:
Hello, What is the length from the receiver opening to the tab or dimple on the Draw-Tite #24816? The shank on my bike rack needs at least 3 3/4 inch and preferable 4 inch before it hits the tab. Thanks, PS - I think I could buy this hitch elsewhere for less but with all the installation help and technical support you provide those other vendors are no longer in the game. THANK YOU!

Based on your question I can tell you have a hitch accessory that was designed for use with only Class II hitches and not Class 1 like the hitch you referenced # 24816. The distance from the pin hole to the weld stop is 1-5/8. The tab you mentioned is for preventing the higher Class accessories from fitting to prevent you from damaging the hitch/vehicle. So this hitch would fit your 2005 Mazda 3 but the bike rack you have now can't be carried with it or any other options as there are no Class II hitches that fit your vehicle.
Best option would then be a new bike rack that is compatible like the Hollywood Racks Trail Rider part # HR200Z.
