Green Light on Voyager Brake Controller Doesn't Come on Until Tester is Connected
Question:
I have a tekonsha Voyager brake controller. It wont light up at all in the pickup. But when I use a test light from the ground wire and test the blue wire. The test light lights up without pushing the brakes in and the controller will light up finally. Green light. Then when I push the brakes in the lights goes to res like it should. Could be brake controller be bad?

I'm guessing that you just installed the Tekonsha Voyager # 39510 and you're trying to test to make sure everything is working properly.
If this is the case then I believe everything is working just fine and there are just a few things that you'll want to note. When you connect a trailer the light will turn green. If your trailer isn't connected then that would explain why the light doesn't activate until you put your test light on it; the controller doesn't sense a load until you connect the test light.
This is also the case for the red light. It will only come on when the brake pedal or manual override is used and your trailer is connected.
I've attached a clip from the instructions from the "Important Facts to Remember" section where I got this info from that you can reference.
