4-Bike Platform Bike Rack that Can Carry E-Bike and Work Behind RV
Question:
Hi, have bought several tow hitches and towed car hitches from you and have been very pleased with all off your products. Etrailer is my go to place for everything towing related. I was looking at the #RKY10004-10005 bike rack, but noticed you do not recommend it for use on a towed vehicle. I’m curious as to why that is. I was thinking about getting one for when we travel in our Motorhome and tow a Subaru XV CrossTrek should we get my wife an eBike. Thanks,

At the rear of a trailer or RV the ride quality is very rough when compared to the ride quality at the rear of a passenger vehicle. Reason being the suspension isn't as sophisticated and there is a longer distance between the rear axle and the rear of the trailer which exaggerates the movement of the trailer when hitting bumps. Because of that only a few bike racks were designed to be reinforced enough for that type of use.
So, the RockyMounts rack you referenced was not rated for the RV application, but we do have a solution: the Saris MHS Bike Rack for 3 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount # SAR35MR that has a higher weight capacity of 80 pounds for 2 of the bikes since the plan is to carry an e-bike, and then a 35 pound limit for the 3rd bike. This rack can be used on a motorhome or a flat-towed vehicle. Check out the review video I attached for more info as well.
