Trailer Brake Shoe Orientation - Larger Pad Toward Front or Rear?
Question:
Does the longer faced primary shoe mount toward the front or rear of the trailer? Or does it matter? Thanks, DLE

Expert Reply:
On trailer brakes the small shoe points towards the front of the trailer, and the larger shoe points towards the rear. This allows the trailer brakes to apply correctly when the magnet for electric brakes is activated, or the wheel cylinder is expanded when using hydraulic brakes.
