Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendations for a 2012 Ford Focus SEL Hatchback

What trunk rack would I need to buy to carry 2 Womens Cruiser bikes? I have a 2012 Ford Focus Hatchback SEL it has a spoiler above the window in the back. I want one that has rack and bike locks.

The rear spoiler will prevent the use of a trunk mount bike rack. To carry bikes with your 2012 Ford Focus I recommend using a trailer hitch and hitch mount bike rack. This is the safest way to carry bikes and it keeps the bikes off of the vehicle.

For a trailer hitch, I recommend the Curt # C11158. This is a Class I trailer hitch with a 1-1/4 inch receiver. For a compatible bike rack with locks for the hitch and bikes I recommend the Thule Helium, # TH9042PRO. I have included some links on the rack and hitch for you.

Since you will be carrying women's bikes you will also need to use and adapter bar, # TH982XT, for each bike to be able to carry them on the rack. I have linked a video that shows how the adapter works.
