Reese M5 Fifth Wheel Hitch for 2020 Ford F-350 with OEM Rail Kit
Question:
2020 350 platinum with 3.55 gears all towing prep work and other factory installed option leaves the sticker in the door saying 4561 for cargo and pin weight. GD momentum 381m. Ignore their dry pin weight and assume loaded to the 20k, the dry hitch weight and dry weight are less than 20. A should I use their percentage dry hitch/dry weight, use 20 which is what we bought the truck for, or split the difference. When we get it delivered and get to loading it I want to make sure it goes through the scales until it hits the right percentage and that is how we will load it each time. hitches were looking at is the Reese m5 and should that be the 27k or 20k. Cannot find anywhere if that is rated to 20k lbs and you’re up the creek if you’re just under 20k and have other stresses wind, switch backs, hard brakes etc.

Since you said to assume the loaded weight of the trailer will be 20k the Reese M5 hitch you'll want is the 27k model part # RP30922 which you'll be really happy with. The price difference between it and the 20k model # RP30921 is almost non-existent so going with the higher rated option really has no downside. A buddy of mine just installed this hitch in his new Ford truck and he really likes it. He came from a Companion hitch which many regard as the nicest and he said this hitch was noticeably quieter and smoother.
