Recommended 34 Inch Hitch Extender For Truck with In-Bed Camper and Towing Trailer

Question:

Hello, My vehicle is a 2016 GMC Sierra Denali HD one ton pickup, 2 1/2inch receiver. I have a slide in camper and want to tow a utility trailer with two ATVs on it. The loaded gross weight of the trailer is less than 3,000 pounds. Based on your website and QandA, I think either the C45048 or the RP45292 will work for me. Questions: 1. Am I correct, either product will work with no additional stabilization or accessories? 2. The 34inch measurement. I think based on your website schematic that the extended hitch is actually 42 3/4inch long, and the measured distance from the END of the receiver back is 34inch Is this correct? Really important as I dont have more than 1-2inch of play between the end of the receiver and the end of the camper bumper. The camper bumper will sit about 4inch higher than the extended hitch. 3. Some reviews indicate that the extended hitch had to be cut shorter because it ran up against the spare, will this be the case for my pick up? 4. My pickup electrical system has a 4 pin plug in system as well as my trailer, do you have an product/extension that will bridge this 34inch gap for this electrical system? Thank you for your help.

The Hitch Box Extension and Reducer for Titan 2-1/2" Trailer Hitches, 24" - 34" Long # RP45292 or the Curt Hitch Extension and Reducer for 2-1/2" Trailer Hitches - 24" to 34" Long # C45048 will work for your truck and trailer as you described it, but I recommend the Reese because of its higher rating. The measurements are from hitch pin hole center to hitch pin hole center. We measure this way because the hitch receiver can have different dimensions from the hitch pin hole to the end of the receiver tube collar.

The Extensions are able to be trimmed if you need the shorter point of connection which doesn't sound like what you need, so you won't require any trimming. It will fit with your spare tire just fine at that full length.

For your trailer 4-way electrical connection you can simply use an extender like the 48" Long 4-Pole Loop with Cover # HM47115 which you can wrap or zip tie as needed for length.
