Will Installing Trailer Wiring Harness # 119250KIT Cause Problems on a 2008 Mercedes R320 CDI
Question:
I have 2008 Mercedes R 320 CDI. I am planning to install towing hitch for this car. I was told by dealer that installing aftermarket wiring may cause problems in my vehicle. What kind of problems I may have if any?

If wired correctly, you should not experience any issues with the wiring harness # 119250KIT on your 2008 Mercedes R320 CDI. If something is not wired correctly you may get an error light on the instrument cluster and of course the trailer lights will not work properly but that is really about it.
This harness powers the trailer lights from the vehicle battery and not the tail light wiring. The tail light wiring only provides the converter box with the proper signals. If there was a short on the trailer wiring the converter box and/or fuse would blow before anything could happen to the vehicle wiring.
I have included a link to the installation instructions for you to view.
