Installing an Electronic Brake Controller on a 1999 Dodge Dakota
Question:
I have recently purchased a tent trailer with electric brakes. The trailer brake mechanism came with it without instructions. It is a draw-tite brake controller code 5504 and I want to hook it up to my 99 Dodge Dakota. Can you send me the info that would explain the procedures as well as any other parts that may be needed. I am a licenced technician but have never installed one that does not require tapping into the brake lines. Thanks

Congratulations on your new tent trailer and brake controller! If you have the factory 7-way plug on the back of your vehicle, you can easily install the Draw-Tite Activator brake controller, # 5504, with the custom plug-in wiring adapter, # 3020-P. Follow the link for installation instructions. I have also included an installation video.
If you do not have the factory 7-way on the back of your pickup, you can use the Brake Controller 7 and 4-way Installation kit, part # ETBC7. I have included a link to those instructions too.
