Recommended High-Quality 4.80-12 Radial Trailer Tire

Question:

HI There, I have a 4.8x12 tire on my trailer, and Im looking to get a taller tire so it doesn't incur so many rpms on the highway. I cant go wider but I can go taller. I have 4 more inches from the top of the tire to my fender but obviously Id need some space. What do you recommend? And do you sell one? Thanks.

So it's simply not possible to add 4 inches of height from a 4.80-12 trailer tire without not only getting larger wheels but also a wider tire. You would need at least a 14 inch wheel and tires that are double the width in order to get a tire that is as tall as you are looking for; it's simply not possible as that size just doesn't exist.

From what it sounds like you are having trouble with tires wearing out on the highway, so you may currently have a bias trailer tire, so the solution really is to upgrade to a high-quality radial trailer tire. Radial tires flex more than bias tires and run cooler so they are designed for the higher RPMs of highway use, and due to that I recommend the Taskmaster 4.80R12 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range C # TT48012C.

This tire is great for highway use with its 81 mph speed rating and it has a 990 lb capacity per tire. I have added a link to a video review for you to check out as well.
