Replacement Wheels and Tires to Lower Trailer to Fit Inside Garage Door

Question:

Hi, I have a very weird issue. I need to get an 84 high trailer through a 79.5 high garage door. It has 15 tires on it. Im thinking if I could somehow reduce the wheel size, put on a small temporary tire on each size, this might work. It has 5 on 4.5 lug pattern. Do you have any way to assist me on this? I would appreciate advice!

We have definitely had this asked before. The 15 inch tires you have are around 27.3 inches in diameter if you have the 205/75-15 tires. If you have 225/75-15 tires then the outer diameter will be 28.1 inches.

You will need to account for weight capacity with smaller tires as well as the hub and drum size requirements for fit. You likely can only go to the 13 inch wheel due to this and I recommend the Loadstar ST175/80D13 Bias Trailer Tire with 13" White Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range C # AM3S140 which have an outer diameter of 24 inches. This will give you 3 or 4 inches more clearance but you would still need to really underinflate the tires for a fit. This will break down the tires but if that is the only thing you use them for it may not matter to you as long as the wheels are directly on the ground.
