Troubleshooting Curt Echo Brake Controller Showing Braking that Isn't Happening
Question:
I recently purchased a Curt Echo. Everything downloaded fine. However, when I pull the trailer, my phone app shows that the brakes are being applied when they are not. When I turn a corner or accelerate and no brakes are applied, the app shows brakes are being applied and it fluctuates. Is this an Echo issue or a wiring issue? Thanks.

The Curt Echo # C51180 is a proportional controller and there are a couple of things I'd check. First, I'd check the settings in your app to adjust the sensitivity. This is what I'd assume is the issue because there is an accelerometer in the unit that likely is the issue.
If you still have issues after adjusting the sensitivity, then I recommend cleaning the trailer connector pins on your vehicle with a little sand paper to ensure there isn't any bleed-over from one pin to another that could be causing that misinformation being read.
I doubt it is a wiring issue in and of itself but if you have issue after these things then I would have that looked at.
