The Tekonsha ZCI # 119250KIT is a passive device, that only reads the signal going through the vehicle's taillight wiring harness. It won't actually affect or interfere with those signals.
I've linked to an installation video showing the wiring harness being installed on a similar vehicle. The wire colors on your GL550 might be different than those shown in the video, but you'll get a good idea of how to identify which circuit serves which lighting function.
