Adding 7-Way to 2007 Ford F-150 With 4-Way
Question:
I have a 2007 F150 with a 4 way flat plug. I just purchased an RV with a 7 prong round plug. Is there an adapter and will everything work on the RV with the adapter? I currently do not have a brake controller on my truck. Should I have one installed? Thanks,

Expert Reply:
Since your RV has a 7-way, in order to utilize all of its functions and have it work with your 2007 Ford F-150, you will need to add a 7-way to your truck. One of those functions is for electric brakes, so you are going to need a trailer brake controller, assuming your RV has electric brakes.
You mentioned you already have a 4-way, which is the factory 4-flat on your truck, so the only other thing you need is the Adapter # 37185.
Your 2007 Ford F-150 will have wires already run which you will use to connect to the adapter to give you a functioning 7-way. I have added a link to a help article which shows you exactly what you need to do.
