Do All Wires of ETBC7 Kit Need to be Installed for Just Lights
Question:
I have an aftermarket 4 pin trailer connection and hitch on my 2018 Jeep Compass north edition to pull my old tent trailer. I am looking at getting a new trailer but they take a 7 pin. If I get the adapter you have mentioned do I have to install the other wires or do I just cap them off? I will later get it installed but just to have the road lights to get it home ?

Yes. Using the # ETBC7 kit to convert your 2018 Jeep Compass's 4-way to a 7-way only needs to be plugged into your existing 4-way and have its ground wire connected to be functional. You won't have trailer brakes, trailer reverse lights, or a 12 volt power circuit until you connect the rest of it but it'd be plenty to get you home.
