Firestone Air Bag And Recommended Compressor System for 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 4X4

Question:

Hi, I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 4X4 with Cummins and am considering a Firestone Air Bag system to assist with hauling my Palomino Bronco pop-up camper, dry weight approximately 1,600 pounds. We travel in areas that require use of four wheel drive and the ability for the stock suspension to articulate as we navigate through washes and over rocks, etc. Will cycling the rear axle through its full range of articulation damage the air bag system in any manner? Thanks

The Firestone # F2299 Ride-Rite Air Helper Spring kit is the correct fit for your 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4. As long as you keep at least the 5 psi minimum air pressure in the system, you'll get full articulation out of your suspension and the air bags will not be damaged.

You might also consider an on-board compressor system like # F2219. A compressor system would allow you to fine tune the suspension according to the load your carrying or the condition of the terrain while you're on the go. No need to step out of the truck or hunt down a compressor, just flip a rocker switch and you can add or remove air from the system any time you wish.

I've linked you to installation videos for the air bag system and the compressor system I mentioned. The compressor video shows an installation on a different vehicle, but because the compressor isn't vehicle specific, the procedure will be very similar on your Ram 2500.
